Nebraska Blackshirts

The 2015 Blackshirts were awarded to the Nebraska defensive players.  The jerseys are given to the top defensive players to wear during practice.  The tradition started when "The defensive unit got its ‘Black Shirt’ tag because members wore black pullover shirts in practice," the Omaha World-Herald reported in its Oct. 19, 1964 edition.  The jerseys feature red stripes that make it look like they have blood smears and a skull with a Nebraska helmet on with two bones crossing behind it on each shoulder.
