Miami University Special Miami Tribe Uniform

The Miami University football team will have special uniforms this week honoring the 50th anniversary of the relationship between the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma and Miami University. The uniform features a white helmet with the Miami script on one side and the players number on the other.

The center stripe has a special meaning with the Black Left Diamond representing the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, and stands for depth of time, earned respect, accumulated cultural wisdom and recognizes the Tribe’s deep ties to their historical homelands. The Red Right Diamond represents Miami University and stands for responsibility, sacrifice, and a commitment to gain and share knowledge. While the white Center Diamond is the Area of connection and collaboration which represents shared clarity of vision and respectful learning from each other. The Red Dot is a representation of fire, a symbol of the warmth of the partnership, and a recognition of the responsibility needed to “tend the fire” of the ongoing relationship.

The gray jersey features the Miami script logo for the first time appearing across the chest. on the tops of the shoulders is a traditional Myaamia ribbon work design. The shoulder caps features the diamond pattern that is also in the helmet’s center stripe. Gray pants will finish off the look for Miami.

The Redhawks will wear the special uniform on Tuesday November 8th vs Ohio.
