Western Kentucky is bringing back the Winged W helmets for homecoming this season. The last time we saw the Hilltoppers in the Winged W helmet was 54 years ago. The team will take break from their chrome helmets that they have become well known for and pay respect to the past with these throwback lids.
Oklahoma is turning back the clocks to honor one of their greatest players, Barry Sanders. The Cowboys will wear the Barry Sanders era uniforms for homecoming this week. The throwback look features the old school all white helmet with the retro decals on each side and oversized players numbers on the back. The jersey will feature a special 30th Anniversary patch to honor Barry Sanders Heisman.
The Red Raiders are throwing it back again this week with a red version of their throwback jerseys we saw them wear last week. SEE HERE The team will sport the same WHITE HELMETS that FEATURE A VERSION WORN BY THE TEAM IN 1974 THAT FEATURES THE DOUBLE T ON EACH SIDE, TWO RED STARS ON EACH SIDE, AND A RED FACEMASK. The Red Raiders will sport the red version of the jersey with white pants to finish off the second retro look.
Oregon revealed their Week 8 uni combo that will feature the Ducks new white uniforms and chrome helmet. The chrome helmet will feature the Oregon wing pattern on the sides. The white jerseys feature the oversized numbers paired with the teams white pants that have the O on the hip.
Missouri has introduced a new helmet for this week. The Tigers will hit the field in their ROCK BLOCK M helmet that features a rock texture on the block M decals found on both sides of the helmet as well as on the bold center stripe. The Tigers pair this helmet with their black jerseys and white pants to complete the look.
LSU is honoring the players who hung their cleats up 100 years ago to to serve in World War I, which in turn canceled the 1918 football season.
The Tigers helmets draws inspiration from French armor and is a nod to Louisiana’s heritage, making it the focal point of the uniform. The helmet will be covered in special iridescent paint allowing for the color to shift from purple to gold under the lights, similar to a Mardi Gras bead. The white uniform will feature purple numbers with a special font and oak leaf pattern that will be found in the numbers, collar and pant striping recognizes the soldiers honored in the Memorial Oak Grove on campus.
On the backs of the helmets we see an acknowledgement to 1918 as the Silent Season and as the year the United States claimed victory in World War I. The American flag decal depicts a 1918 flag with 48 stars, as Alaska and Hawaii had not yet been admitted into the Union. The final touch comes on the backs of the jerseys were no player will have a nameplate, to pay tribute to the unknown members of the LSU community who lost their lives in World War I.
The Jets will break out their Color Rush uniforms this week as they take on the Vikings. The Kelly green jersey and pants will be paired with the teams white helmet with chrome decals and chrome green facemask.
The Sun Devils are in a full Maroon Monsoon alert with their all Maroon uniform combination this week. Arizona State will go with their maroon helmets that feature the oversized pitch fork on one side and the player’s number on the other. The new Maroon jersey will be paired with the maroon pants to give the full maroon look.
Utah will take the field rocking their throwback uniforms. The old school look features the retro UU logo on a white helmet with a red facemask. The red jersey has the same UU logo on the shoulders with retro stripes and old school numbers. The retro look for the Utes will be finished off with white pants and accessories.
