Boise State Builds Legacy Into “The Blue” With Historic Field Tribute

There are iconic fields in sports, and then there’s The Blue. Now, Boise State Broncos football are taking that identity to another level, turning their legendary turf into a permanent tribute to greatness.

Ahead of the 2026 season, the program has unveiled a redesigned field at Albertsons Stadium that honors two of the most transformational players in school history: Ashton Jeanty and Kellen Moore.

When the new turf is installed this summer, fans will immediately notice a unique addition:

Orange sideline hash marks at the 2-yard and 11-yard lines, a direct nod to the jersey numbers worn by Jeanty and Moore during their time in Boise. It’s a subtle but powerful design choice, embedding their legacy directly into the field where they helped define the program.

“This is more than a tribute; it is a permanent reminder of the standard they set,” said Athletic Director Jeramiah Dickey. Both players didn’t just succeed, they redefined what Boise State football could be.

Jeanty delivered one of the most dominant seasons in college football history, finishing as a Heisman Trophy runner-up and capturing both the Maxwell and Doak Walker Awards. Now with the Las Vegas Raiders, he stands as the highest NFL Draft pick in program history.

Moore’s legacy is built on unmatched consistency. A four-time All-American and Heisman finalist, he led Boise State to a staggering 50-3 record as a starting quarterback. Now, he continues his football journey as head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

The tribute extends beyond the hash marks. The updated field at Albertsons Stadium will also feature:

A state of Idaho outline at the 35-yard lines, tying into the “Front Porch of Idaho” identity

An all-white Pac-12 logo, marking a new era for the program

A fresh installation of FieldTurf Vertex CORE, designed for elite performance, durability, and aesthetics

This marks the seventh version of The Blue, continuing one of the most recognizable visuals in all of sports.

The redesign also coincides with the 40th anniversary of Boise State’s iconic blue turf, making the 2026 season even more meaningful.
