Miami Hurricanes Bring Back Iconic 2001 Look With New Throwback Uniforms
The Miami Hurricanes are bringing one of the most recognizable looks in college football history back to the field. As Miami celebrates the 25th anniversary of its legendary 2001 national championship season, adidas has unveiled a throwback uniform inspired by the Hurricanes’ iconic championship-era look.
The timing makes the release even more significant. Miami and adidas will part ways following the 2026-27 athletic year, with the Hurricanes returning to Nike beginning in July 2027 under a new 10-year partnership. That makes this throwback one of the final major Miami football uniform moments of the adidas era.
The new uniforms recreate the visual identity worn by Larry Coker’s 2001 Hurricanes, a team that finished a perfect 12-0 season and captured Miami’s fifth national championship with a 37-14 victory over Nebraska in the Rose Bowl.
The design brings back the unmistakable combination of Miami orange and green, along with the striping and number treatment that defined the Hurricanes during one of the most dominant seasons in program history.
It is a look that immediately transports fans back to the early 2000s, an era when Miami was establishing itself as one of the most recognizable brands in college football.
