New Uniforms for Florida State Football
Florida State University has revealed its updated uniforms for the upcoming 2023 football season. The new design was showcased at the program's annual Garnet and Gold Spring Showcase in Doak Campbell Stadium. The uniforms feature an updated design on both the jerseys and pants, with elements from previous FSU teams incorporated into the new design.
On the jerseys, the numbers have been moved from the top of the shoulders down to the sleeve. The tribal pattern on the shoulder cap has also been moved to the sleeve cuffs and remains on the redesigned collar. The pants will now feature FSU's primary Seminole head logo on both hips.
The new tribal pattern on the jerseys has been designed using Seminole symbols for arrow, man on horse, and fire in a repeating arrangement from top to bottom. The pattern incorporates meaningful symbolism from the Seminole Tribe's patchwork patterns into the program's jerseys. The patchwork decorative technique dates back to the early 1900s among Seminole Tribe women and was adopted by the Tribe as a standard means of embellishing their traditionally vibrant clothing.
Florida State will be among a limited number of collegiate programs wearing the new state-of-the-art Nike Vapor F.U.S.E. uniform. The uniform combines lightweight fabric technology with a precision fit to help allow ultimate performance on the field. The new uniforms are expected to be available in retail stores closer to the start of the 2023 season.
The Seminoles will have garnet and white jerseys, gold, garnet, and white pants, and gold and white helmet options for the upcoming 2023 season. This creates 12 different possible combinations for the team to wear.
Overall, the new uniforms are an exciting update for the FSU football program, incorporating elements from previous teams and paying homage to the Seminole Tribe's patchwork patterns.
