With the NFL’s one helmet rule it really limited some teams that currently have a different color helmet shell compared to what their retro uniforms would have. Once the helmet rule is changed in the coming 2021 season we will see most teams adopt a retro look to wear during the football season. Take a look below at some of the throwback threads from last NFL Season.

Los Angeles Chargers New Uniforms

The Chargers revealed the new look for the team as they head into the 2020 season. The team’s new uniforms draw inspiration from California back in the 1960's, and bring to life a modification of a classic look. The helmet sees the return of the players numbers on the sides with the new lightning bolt featuring just the one color outline.

The team will now have six different combinations they can choose from when hitting the field. For the new home and away uniforms the Chargers have introduced white and gold pants that will be paired with their home and away jerseys. The team will also boast two ‘Color Rush’ uniforms, the fan favorite Royal Blue and now a Navy ‘Color Rush’ option. To go with the new Navy look the Chargers will swap out the gold mask for navy and use navy and gold bolt decals.

"I can't speak for everybody else but I'mma be swaggin this uniform out this year. I'm definitely going to be the number one best dresser, top swag. I like what they did with this new bolt, man. That's clever." - DB Desmond King

New England Patriots New Uniforms

The Patriots have revealed their new uniforms, marking the first change to the primary uniforms in 20 years for the team. The Patriots have upgraded their alternate uniform to now become their new home primary uniform and introduce an away version to match. The uniforms have a few changes from the previous ‘Color Rush’ Alternate look with small tweaks made to the fonts on both the numbers and nameplates and red, white, and blue color-blocked socks making their debut.

The jersey’s shoulders feature strong, bold stripes as a nod to the red throwback uniforms. The red throwback jerseys may make an appearance down the road once the NFL lifts the one helmet rule as the Patriots stated “A silver helmet with the "Flying Elvis" logo just doesn't work with the red uniforms, which, of course, feature a white helmet with the iconic "Pat Patriot" logo.”

"As we started to think about the 2020 season and a new decade, we began to envision what we wanted our uniforms to reflect. The success of the 'Color Rush' uniform that we've worn for the past couple of years had us thinking that we didn't need to make real substantive changes, rather we could make modest changes to our home uniform and then use a complementary version with those same aesthetics for our away uniform." -Jen Ferron, the CMO of Kraft Sports and Entertainment

Cleveland Browns New Uniforms

The Cleveland Browns have released their new uniforms that pay homage to the past, while looking ahead to the future. The new look is inspired by the AAFC and NFL champion teams of the 40s, 50s and 60s, the Kardiac Kids, the team's memorable run through the mid-80s and even some of the best memories in recent years.

The new jerseys will be a simple brown jersey with white numbers and white jersey with brown numbers. The shoulders of the jersey will feature the iconic Browns stripe that has been a fixture in the team’s look throughout the years. Stitched inside the collar of the jerseys is "1946," the year the team was founded. The team has also removed any wordmarks across the chest of the jerseys.

The Browns will continue to wear the fan favorite “Color Rush” uniform with slight adjustments, coming with the removal of stripes on the jersey and pants. The helmet will continue to feature the brown facemask, that was introduced in 2015, but the carbon fiber texture on the center stripe has been removed.

"We wanted to get back to the roots of who the Browns are. We've heard it from our fans and from our players. We needed to get back to our roots. As you look at iconic franchises like the Browns, the Bears, the Packers, the Cowboys — they're true to who they are. They're not doing a lot of changes and trying to make a lot of flashy moves with their uniforms. I think when we went through the process, it just felt right that we got back to who we are and who we'll always be.” -Owner JW Johnson

Indianapolis Colts New Uniforms

The Indianapolis Colts have made some subtle changes to their logo, wordmarks and uniforms as they head into the 2020 season. The Colts will keep their primary logo the same but have introduced a new secondary logo that is a tribute to the state of Indiana, that has been there home for more than 35 years. The secondary logo is a blend of the C from the new COLTS wordmark with the state outline in the middle.

The team’s new wordmark is a major change with a more block and structured look compared to the previous rounded, bubbly style.

The new uniforms for the Colts are not a major overhaul like we have seen with a few teams so far this off season. The upgrade comes with new numbers that mirror those worn by the team in the 50’s and 60’s. The front and back bumpers of the helmet will now display the team’s new wordmark. The finish touch comes with the new secondary logo added to the inside of the jersey’s neckline.

Atlanta Falcons New Uniforms

The Atlanta Falcons have released their new uniforms, marking the first time in 17 years the team has redesigned their look. The new uniforms are a nod to the past while staying updated to match the progression of Atlanta. The new official home uni will feature the black jersey and black pants, while the away uniform will be the white on white look. The uniform options for the Falcons will now offer up to eight different color combinations. The team has included the current throwback uniform that pays homage to the 1966 team. The look that sticks out the most is the team’s new "Rise Up" alternate uniform.

The "Rise Up" alternate uniform is meant to pay homage to the next generation of Falcons fans. The gradient pattern rising from black to red offers a fresh representation of a city constantly on the rise through a visual pattern made from the eye in the Falcon logo.

The Falcons new helmet has ditched the traditional glossy finish for a more modern all-black satin finish. The Falcons bird logo is now nearly 30 percent larger than before with a chrome outline that matches the silver facemask. When the team wears their throwback look they will swap out the silver mask for a black mask and put the retro logo on the sides of the helmet.

"We took a fan-first approach in gathering feedback and design input and have modernized the look of our team and our brand. Black has been a part of our organization since we took the field in 1966 so we've stayed true to our roots and have given our fans and players what they've been asking for over many years." -Falcons President, Rich McKay
