The Saskatchewan Roughriders have officially unveiled their new "Prairie Blizzard" uniform, a special one-time look that will take the field when the club hosts the Toronto Argonauts in Regina. Created exclusively for the unique home matchup, the Prairie Blizzard uniform reimagines the Roughriders' traditional road aesthetic by placing the spotlight squarely on the white portion of the club's iconic green-and-white identity.
While the Roughriders are one of the CFL's most tradition-rich franchises, opportunities to wear white at home are rare. Once the organization learned it would host Toronto while wearing white jerseys at Mosaic Stadium, the club quickly partnered with New Era to create a uniform that would fully embrace the occasion.
"When we found out that we would be hosting a Toronto home game at Mosaic Stadium and therefore wearing white at home, we worked quickly with our partners at New Era to create something special for fans," said Director of Retail Operations Mark Habicht. "The inspiration behind the design was to create a fresh white version of the Club's iconic logo, eliminating the black entirely to place the full emphasis on the Roughriders' core colours."
The result is a clean and striking uniform that feels both familiar and completely new. The team's iconic "S" logo has been redesigned specifically for the Prairie Blizzard look, removing black from the mark and allowing the white and green colour palette to take center stage. The custom logo appears on the sleeves, pants and helmet, creating a cohesive look from head to toe.
The jersey itself features white numbers outlined in green, adding just enough contrast while maintaining the crisp, monochromatic feel that inspired the Prairie Blizzard name. The overall presentation gives the Roughriders one of their most distinctive uniform combinations in recent memory and provides a fitting visual for a game expected to transform Mosaic Stadium into a sea of white.
The special uniform experience will continue beyond kickoff. To commemorate the occasion, the Roughriders will hold a "Jerseys Off Our Back" promotion following the game. Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to receive game-worn Prairie Blizzard jerseys directly from players on the field, creating a memorable connection between the team and Rider Nation.
When the Roughriders take the field against the Argonauts, the Prairie Blizzard uniform will serve as both a celebration of a unique scheduling opportunity and a fresh interpretation of one of the CFL's most recognizable brands. For one night only, Mosaic Stadium will trade its traditional sea of green for a Prairie Blizzard of white.
