Nebraska Athletics has officially unveiled new home and away football uniforms, introducing an updated look that balances modern design elements with the rich traditions that have defined Husker football for generations.
One of the most noticeable changes comes on the jersey itself. The new design features two stripes across the shoulders, while player numbers have been relocated to the sleeves. The updates serve as a nod to traditional football uniforms and pay homage to the legacy of Nebraska football, blending classic design principles with a contemporary presentation.
Beyond the throwback-inspired striping, the uniforms incorporate details that celebrate the state's agricultural roots. The jersey number font was designed with inspiration drawn from numbers engraved on a steel anvil, symbolizing the toughness and work ethic that have long been associated with Nebraska. Inside the numbers, subtle lines mimic the crop rows that stretch across the state's landscape, creating a visual connection between the football program and the land that defines Nebraska's identity.
"Our partners with adidas approached us about two years ago with updated uniform concepts to provide a modernized look," said Brandon Meier, Nebraska Senior Associate AD for Marketing and Multimedia. "We appreciate that adidas recognized the natural connection between Nebraska football and agriculture and used that as inspiration for a design that is fitting of the hard work, grit and dedication of our state."
The new uniforms also reflect the changing landscape of college athletics and the importance of recruiting. Programs across the country continue to invest in uniform innovation as a way to appeal to prospective student-athletes, and Nebraska believes these updates provide an added edge while maintaining the integrity of one of the sport's most recognizable brands.
"Recruiting is undeniably the lifeblood of competitive success, and young kids want to wear something sleek, modern, fast and fashionable," said Haven Fields, Deputy AD and Chief Operating Officer of Husker Athletics. "These updates will give a cutting edge to the iconic Nebraska brand. We are proud of the final product and excited for the 2026 season."
Despite the updates, some of Nebraska's most recognizable visual elements remain untouched. The iconic white helmet featuring the red "N" will not change, preserving one of college football's most enduring symbols. The helmet-inspired "N" logo will also remain on the front of the pants, ensuring the uniforms continue to carry the traditional branding that generations of Husker fans have come to know.
As the Huskers prepare for the 2026 season, they'll do so wearing a uniform that not only looks toward the future but also serves as a reminder of the hard work, grit and pride that have long defined football in the state of Nebraska.
