Ohio State Expands Uniform Rotation with Scarlet Rush and Sub Zero Combos
Ohio State Buckeyes is officially leaning further into alternate uniform storytelling for the 2026 season with the return of two fan-favorite combinations: Scarlet Rush and Sub Zero.
Both looks build off Ohio State’s traditional visual identity while offering modern alternate interpretations that have quickly become staples within the program’s uniform rotation. And while neither combo completely reinvents the Buckeyes’ iconic look, each delivers a distinct atmosphere that fans immediately associate with major moments in recent Ohio State history.
The Scarlet Rush combination pairs Ohio State’s traditional silver helmet with a scarlet jersey and scarlet pants, creating one of the boldest monochromatic looks in college football. The uniform directly draws inspiration from “Scarlet the Shoe,” one of the most recognizable themed stadium environments in the sport, where fans flood Ohio Stadium in all scarlet.
On the opposite end of the spectrum sits Sub Zero. The alternate combination features Ohio State’s silver helmet paired with a white jersey and white pants, creating a sharp all-white look that delivers a colder, cleaner interpretation of the Buckeyes’ traditional road identity.
One of the biggest reasons Ohio State’s alternate combinations consistently work is because the program rarely strays too far from its core visual identity.
Whether it’s Scarlet Rush, Sub Zero, or the recently revived Tunnel Vision uniforms, the Buckeyes continue building alternates around foundational design elements already associated with Ohio State football.
