After three decades of one of the NFL’s most recognizable looks, the Baltimore Ravens are ready for their next evolution.
The redesign keeps the core identity that fans have come to love while introducing new textures, colors, and details inspired by the power and mystique of a raven in flight. From new helmets to updated typography and Baltimore-inspired design cues, the collection blends the franchise’s history with a bold look for the future.
One of the most noticeable changes comes with the addition of two updated helmet designs. The first is the new “Darkness Helmet,” a matte black helmet that gives the Ravens a more intimidating on-field presence. The helmet features black talon stripes and a two-toned front-facing Ravens logo with glowing red eyes, a design element already familiar to fans from the player tunnel at M&T Bank Stadium.
The Ravens also updated their “Purple Rising” helmet, which debuted in 2024 with the team’s alternate purple uniform. The helmet now features the primary Ravens logo, allowing it to be paired with additional uniform combinations. The metallic purple shell remains, accented with gold talon stripes and a gold facemask.
Another key addition is a new color element called “Midnight Purple.” Inspired by the iridescent feathers of a raven, the material shifts between deep purple and near-black depending on how light hits it.
This color appears throughout the uniform system, including:
The stroke outlining jersey numbers
Sleeve shield patches
Back collar accents
Talon striping on the pants
The effect gives the uniforms a more dynamic look under stadium lights.
The Ravens leaned heavily into bird-inspired design elements across the new collection.
The collar now features a pattern resembling a raven’s wings spread wide, referencing feather elements from the franchise’s original logo set.
Instead of traditional straight pant stripes, the Ravens introduced diagonal talon-style stripes designed to mimic the claws of a raven. The angled cut also references the Calvert crest, a symbol seen in both the Baltimore and Maryland flags.
The Ravens also made subtle but meaningful changes to their jersey numbers. The drop shadow effect has been removed, giving the numbers a cleaner and more modern appearance. Gold trim has been replaced with the new Midnight Purple outline, which now surrounds the numbers across all three primary jersey colors. The typography itself was also refined to create a more consistent look across each numeral.
Each jersey sleeve shield has also been updated to incorporate the new Midnight Purple color.
The Darkness shield features black and midnight purple tones.
The Purple Rising shield combines midnight purple with metallic gold.
The primary purple and white jerseys feature a full-color shield outlined in midnight purple.
These adjustments create stronger visual continuity across the uniform lineup.
For the first time, every Ravens jersey will now prominently feature the name Baltimore.
Traditionally, Ravens jerseys have displayed “Ravens” across the chest beneath the collar. While that remains on several jerseys, the team’s white road jerseys now read “Baltimore” instead.
Additionally, the back collars of the purple, black, and Purple Rising jerseys now include the city name as well, ensuring that every uniform proudly represents Baltimore.
Each jersey also includes a signature phrase from the Ravens’ history stitched inside the collar.
These phrases reflect the culture and identity of the franchise:
“Play Like a Raven” – Featured inside the purple and white jerseys. The phrase was originally coined by legendary Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome to define the organization’s standard of play.
“Purple Rising” – Included inside the alternate purple uniform.
“Darkness There and Nothing More” – Featured inside the black jersey, a chilling line from Edgar Allan Poe’s famous poem The Raven, honoring the literary inspiration behind the team’s name.
For three decades, the Ravens have maintained one of the most distinctive uniform identities in the NFL.
With the Next Flight collection, the franchise managed to evolve that look without losing the elements that made it iconic.
