Washington Wizards Bring Back Fan-Favorite Cherry Blossom City Edition Uniform for 2026–27
the Washington Wizards have officially unveiled their 2026–27 NBA City Edition uniform, highlighted by the highly anticipated return of the team’s Cherry Blossom design.
Originally introduced ahead of the 2022–23 season, the Cherry Blossom City Edition uniform quickly blossomed into one of the most beloved alternate looks in franchise history. Its return continues to celebrate one of Washington, D.C.’s most iconic seasonal traditions, the cherry blossom bloom that transforms the nation’s capital each spring.
“We are thrilled to work with Nike and the NBA to bring back this popular NBA City Edition uniform for the 2026–27 season,” said Wizards Chief Marketing Officer Hunter Lochmann. “We were excited when we debuted these during the 2022–23 season and know the fans and city will be happy to have them back as one of our uniform sets.”
The 2026–27 City Edition uniform retains the signature elements that made the original design an instant hit.
A bright pink base once again defines the jersey, a bold visual tribute to the blooming cherry blossom trees that surround the Tidal Basin each spring. Along the sides, subtle cherry blossom silhouettes add texture and depth, while crisp white accents provide balance throughout the uniform.
Across the chest, the “Washington” wordmark features a unique detail: a cherry blossom icon replacing the dot above the “i.” Just above the official NBA tag, three cherry blossoms appear—an intentional nod to the three stars found on the Washington, D.C., flag.
These thoughtful design touches continue to connect the uniform directly to the city’s identity.
The shorts provide one of the most visually striking elements of the uniform set.
A deep blue ombré gradient transitions upward into pink, symbolizing the reflection of cherry blossoms across the water of the Tidal Basin during peak bloom. The Wizards’ basketball logo appears prominently on both sides of the shorts, visually linking the pink jersey to the darker blue tones below.
The gradient effect not only enhances the overall aesthetic but also reinforces the storytelling element that defines many of the league’s City Edition designs.
