Navy Football Celebrates 100 Years With Special-Edition Team-Issue Football

Navy football is celebrating a century of history with a special-edition Team Issue football commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Midshipmen’s 1926 National Championship team. Handcrafted by Big Game USA, the commemorative football brings Navy’s historic past into a collectible designed specifically for the 2026 season.

The Midshipmen will honor the 1926 championship team when Navy takes on Notre Dame on Saturday, October 31, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The matchup will serve as the centerpiece of Navy’s celebration of 100 years of football tradition.

The special-edition football features navy and gold trim, highlighted by a distinctive “100th Anniversary Season” and “National Champions 1962” badge. The design incorporates Navy’s signature colors while giving the football a commemorative look created specifically for the anniversary celebration.

For the first time, the limited-edition football is constructed using Team Issue’s exclusive gold leather, paired with crisp white stripes and gold KR19 laces. The combination gives the football a unique appearance while maintaining the look and feel of an authentic team-issued football.

Handcrafted in the USA to the specifications of the Navy Midshipmen football team, the ball is built to reflect the same attention to detail associated with Navy’s on-field equipment.

With the 1926 National Championship team serving as the inspiration, the football connects one of the most important moments in Navy football history with the program's 100th anniversary season.

UCF Celebrates a Decade of Space Game Uniforms With Mission X

UCF is celebrating a decade of Space Game uniforms by returning to its origin story. The Knights’ new “Mission X: Origin Story” look draws inspiration from the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs, translating details from early spacesuits into a football uniform that connects the university’s history with its SpaceU identity.

The uniforms will debut against Baylor on Oct. 30 in the 10th annual Space Game. A white helmet, jersey and pants create the foundation, while Canaveral blue, red and metallic accents give each part of the design a connection to space exploration.

The helmet features a bold red center stripe inspired by the red spacesuit markings used to identify Apollo mission commanders. A chrome gold facemask references the reflective gold visors of Apollo spacesuits, while the UCF stack logo incorporates a chrome silver United States flag. Together, those details give the helmet an unmistakable astronaut-inspired appearance.

The jersey takes its construction cues from Project Mercury. Black stitching emphasizes the seams across the white fabric, referencing the visible stitching and prominent zippers of the program’s original spacesuits. Rather than hiding the jersey’s construction lines, the design makes them part of the overall look.

At the neckline, a Canaveral blue collar honors the blue inner nylon of 1960s spacesuits, which became visible when astronauts removed their helmets. That connection continues at the sleeve cuffs, with blue on the left and red on the right. The colors reference the aluminum ring connectors used to distinguish the left and right glove attachments on Gemini spacesuits.

The same placement carries through to the pants, creating a consistent visual story from the shoulders down. The right leg features red striping and “UNITED STATES” lettering, while the left uses blue striping and “MISSION X.” Inspired by Apollo-era rockets and spacesuits, the markings give the white pants a distinctive asymmetrical finish. The Citronaut, Florida Technological University’s first unofficial mascot, also appears on the front pant leg.

The numbers bring another layer of history into the design. UCF uses a modified Microgramma font, a style popular in 1960s science fiction, with reflective silver details honoring Project Mercury spacesuits. A closer look reveals 10 Polaris stars representing the program’s 10 Space Games, along with a “Property of Florida Technological University 1963” inscription that recognizes UCF’s original name and founding year.

The shoulder patches follow the arrangement of Project Gemini spacesuits: a United States flag on the left sleeve and a mission patch on the right. UCF’s Mission X patch takes inspiration from Gemini X and features 10 stars celebrating the Space Game milestone. The connection also reaches into university history through Gemini X command pilot John Young, who served as UCF’s first commencement speaker in 1970.

What makes Mission X stand out is how thoroughly the theme carries across the uniform. The contrasting cuffs, exposed stitching, helmet stripe and pant markings all draw from specific pieces of space history. Even the smallest details help explain why SpaceU is such a meaningful part of UCF’s identity.

For its 10th Space Game, UCF has built a look that rewards a closer inspection. Mission X brings the visual language of early space exploration onto the field, turning a milestone uniform into a tribute to the university’s beginnings.

Louisville Unveils “For The Ville” Uniform Inspired by Muhammad Ali

Louisville is bringing a piece of the city's boxing history to the football field.

The Cardinals have unveiled their new “For The Ville” uniform, a 2026 alternate inspired by Louisville legend Muhammad Ali. The design draws heavily from the look of Ali's iconic boxing gear, giving Louisville one of its most unique football uniforms in recent years.

Ali's connection to Louisville runs deep, making him a natural source of inspiration for the Cardinals' latest alternate.

The new jerseys feature a black base with “Louisville” across the chest in white, using a typeface that closely resembles the branding associated with Everlast, the boxing brand famously connected to Ali and the sport.

The stripped-down black-and-white design gives the uniform the appearance of a classic boxing kit while translating Ali's legendary aesthetic to the football field.

The result is a look that feels distinctly different from Louisville's traditional red-and-black uniforms.

Louisville has previously honored Ali with alternate uniforms, including an all-white design during the 2019 season and a uniform inspired by Ali's famous “Rumble in the Jungle” bout against George Foreman in 2024.

The 2026 version takes a different approach, using Ali's boxing aesthetic as the foundation rather than simply recreating one of his famous fight uniforms.

The Cardinals will debut the “For The Ville” uniforms on October 31, when Louisville hosts Stanford.

Miami Hurricanes Bring Back Iconic 2001 Look With New Throwback Uniforms

The Miami Hurricanes are bringing one of the most recognizable looks in college football history back to the field. As Miami celebrates the 25th anniversary of its legendary 2001 national championship season, adidas has unveiled a throwback uniform inspired by the Hurricanes’ iconic championship-era look.

The timing makes the release even more significant. Miami and adidas will part ways following the 2026-27 athletic year, with the Hurricanes returning to Nike beginning in July 2027 under a new 10-year partnership. That makes this throwback one of the final major Miami football uniform moments of the adidas era.

The new uniforms recreate the visual identity worn by Larry Coker’s 2001 Hurricanes, a team that finished a perfect 12-0 season and captured Miami’s fifth national championship with a 37-14 victory over Nebraska in the Rose Bowl.

The design brings back the unmistakable combination of Miami orange and green, along with the striping and number treatment that defined the Hurricanes during one of the most dominant seasons in program history.

It is a look that immediately transports fans back to the early 2000s, an era when Miami was establishing itself as one of the most recognizable brands in college football.

What makes this uniform work is its simplicity. The original 2001 look didn't rely on excessive graphics or complicated elements. The orange, green and white color palette, classic striping and clean typography created a visual identity that became synonymous with Miami football.

The new version stays rooted in those same characteristics, giving the current Hurricanes a chance to step onto the field wearing one of the most recognizable uniforms in college football history. And in a season where Miami is already celebrating its 2001 championship legacy, the timing couldn't be better.

Now the current generation of Hurricanes will have the opportunity to add another chapter to that story, wearing a uniform inspired by the team that set the standard a generation ago.

Northwestern Football Reveals New 'Purple Gothics' Uniform

Northwestern Football has officially unveiled a new Purple Gothic look that blends the Wildcats' signature identity with architectural inspiration pulled directly from the university's historic campus.

The new design stays true to Northwestern's iconic purple while incorporating bold metallic gold accents throughout the uniform, creating one of the most unique looks in program history. Rather than reinventing the Wildcats' color palette, the design elevates it with premium finishes and intricate details that make the uniform stand out on the field.

The most striking feature is the gold detailing woven throughout the jersey, pants and helmet. Metallic gold outlines the player numbers, adding depth and texture against the purple base, while matching gold striping appears across the shoulders and down the sides of the pants. The helmet continues the theme with a bold gold center stripe and oversized metallic gold "N" logos, tying the entire uniform together into a cohesive head-to-toe design.

Perhaps the most unique element of the collection is its Gothic influence. The uniforms feature cathedral-inspired design details and custom Gothic lettering that pays tribute to Northwestern's historic campus architecture. "Northwestern" is displayed in a Gothic script across the shoulders, while the same typeface appears on the front helmet bumper with "Wildcats," giving the uniform a distinctive identity unlike anything else in college football.

The custom number font also embraces the Gothic theme. Finished in textured metallic gold with black outlines, the numerals create a premium appearance while complementing the medieval-inspired aesthetic found throughout the uniform.

Northwestern also paired the reveal with photography inside one of the university's iconic library spaces, reinforcing the connection between the football program and the academic heritage that has defined the institution for generations. The backdrop perfectly complements the cathedral-inspired design language featured throughout the uniform.

The best uniforms are the ones that tell a story, and Northwestern's Purple Gothic uniforms do exactly that. By drawing inspiration from the university's iconic architecture instead of introducing flashy gimmicks, the Wildcats have created a look that feels authentic, premium and uniquely Northwestern. The combination of signature purple, metallic gold accents and Gothic-inspired detailing makes this one of the most memorable uniform unveilings of the 2026 college football season.

Haas Unleashes Godzilla-Themed Livery for the United States Grand Prix

Haas is bringing Godzilla to Austin with a special “Godzilla Minus Zero” livery for the 2026 United States Grand Prix. The one-off design adds light blue accents and bold patterns to the VF-26 cars of Ollie Bearman and Esteban Ocon, giving the team a distinctive look for its home race weekend.

The release continues Haas’ season-long collaboration with TOHO CO., LTD., the Japanese entertainment studio behind Godzilla, and celebrates the upcoming film.

Austin marks another chapter in the partnership following Haas’ first Godzilla-themed livery at the Japanese Grand Prix.

That earlier design worked within the team’s core white, black and red color scheme. For the United States Grand Prix, Haas expands the palette with splashes of light blue, giving the latest edition its own visual identity.

Bold patterns add to the transformation, bringing the film collaboration onto the car through a more expressive graphic treatment. The result gives fans a second interpretation of the Godzilla theme within the same season.

The “Godzilla Minus Zero” design connects Haas’ race-weekend appearance to the upcoming film release, using the VF-26 as a moving canvas for the collaboration.

A special livery gives the partnership visibility throughout the event, from garage photography and close-up detail shots to the cars competing on track. Additional team activations will support the Austin appearance, extending the collaboration beyond the bodywork.

For Haas, the release also demonstrates how an entertainment partnership can create multiple distinct looks. The Japanese Grand Prix introduced the concept in familiar team colors, while Austin brings a fresh palette and a new film-focused direction.

Bearman and Ocon will both race the special edition at Circuit of The Americas, one of three American stops on the team’s calendar alongside Miami and Las Vegas.

The home-race setting gives Haas an opportunity to make a visual statement in front of its American supporters. With light blue accents, bold graphics and the Godzilla connection, the VF-26 will bring a cinematic edge to the Austin grid.

Mercedes is adding a fresh color to its Formula 1 look for the 2026 United States Grand Prix. George Russell and Kimi Antonelli will race at Circuit of The Americas with a one-off livery highlighting Mercedes-Benz’s MANUFAKTUR customization program.

The revised design introduces flashes of blue to the team’s familiar silver, black and green palette, with matching driver suits extending the concept beyond the cars.

The Austin treatment builds on the W17’s established identity, adding blue details while retaining the colors associated with Mercedes’ current racing look.

That approach gives the special edition a recognizable foundation. Silver, black and green remain part of the composition, while the additional blue creates a point of difference for the United States Grand Prix weekend.

The design puts MANUFAKTUR in the spotlight, connecting the brand’s vehicle personalization program with its Formula 1 team. A race-specific livery provides a fitting way to showcase a program built around giving cars an individual appearance.

Mercedes has also created coordinating race suits for Russell and Antonelli, bringing the special design direction into the drivers’ gear.

The matching outfits give the team a consistent presentation throughout the weekend, allowing the concept to carry from the cars on track to driver appearances and garage photography.

Mercedes joins the lineup of teams introducing special designs for the United States Grand Prix, with further MANUFAKTUR-related activations planned throughout the weekend.

For the Silver Arrows, the release centers on a focused color update supported by coordinated apparel and personalized road cars. The flashes of blue give Russell and Antonelli’s W17s a distinct Austin appearance while keeping Mercedes’ familiar racing identity in view.

Cadillac Brings Western Style to Formula 1 With Special Austin Livery

The Cadillac Formula 1 Team is dressing for Texas with a one-off livery inspired by Western wear for the 2026 United States Grand Prix. Drawing from embroidered cowboy shirts, denim stitching and decorative saddlery, the design brings the craftsmanship of the American West onto a modern Formula 1 car.

The tribute extends to matching race suits for Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez, creating a coordinated look for the team’s appearance at Circuit of The Americas.

The livery’s defining feature is artwork designed to look stitched directly onto the bodywork. Chain-stitch effects reference blue jeans and vintage Western shirts, while ornamental scrollwork draws inspiration from fine saddlery.

Developing that appearance required designers to render individual stitches digitally, giving the graphics the texture and detail associated with embroidery.

The team approached the theme with a clean color palette and carefully placed artwork, aiming for a look that reflected Texas culture while retaining Cadillac’s design identity. The result treats the car’s bodywork as a canvas for craftsmanship, with details intended to reward a closer look.

The livery includes several elements connecting the design to its destination. Embroidery-style depictions of the Austin skyline and the Circuit of The Americas layout bring the host city and track into the artwork.

Cactus motifs add another Texas reference, while 50 stars represent the United States. A horseshoe with its heels pointing upward introduces a traditional symbol of good luck.

These smaller graphics give fans more to discover beyond the overall Western theme, connecting the car’s decorative treatment to specific places and symbols.

The project brought together GM Design in Michigan and the Cadillac Formula 1 Team’s technical operation in the United Kingdom. Vincent Traina, a Dallas native and design manager at GM’s Performance, Motorsports and Accessories studio, helped bring a personal understanding of Texas style to the concept.

Senior design visualization CG artist Jamie Thresher worked on translating that direction into detailed digital artwork. The designers collaborated within designated areas of the car, shaping the graphics around bodywork developed for aerodynamic performance.

That balance between ornament and precision became central to the project: intricate imagery needed to complement the car’s contours and read clearly across its complex surfaces.

Bottas and Pérez will also have custom driver suits that echo the livery’s Western wear theme. Extending the concept into the drivers’ gear gives Cadillac a complete race-weekend presentation, carrying the same creative direction from the car to the cockpit.

Austin marks Cadillac’s third special livery of the season, following designs for Miami and the British Grand Prix. Each has explored a different expression of American identity, with this edition focusing on the character and craftsmanship of the American West.
