San Antonio Spurs 2023 City Edition Uniform
The San Antonio Spurs have lifted the veil on their 2023-24 Nike NBA City Edition uniforms and court, paying homage to the illustrious Hemisfair, a significant landmark and the site of the 1968 World's Fair.
The newly unveiled Nike NBA City Edition uniform design speaks volumes, channeling the ambiance of the late 1960s. The uniform features a white base where the San Antonio wordmark gracefully arches across the chest, accompanied by elegant details in shades of chocolate brown and saffron orange along the arm trims. Taking cues from the earth-toned fashion trends of that era, the color scheme continues down the sides of the shorts, showcasing terracotta pink, sunflower yellow, and succulent green accents. Embracing the city's history, the lower left side of the shorts showcases a symbolic tribute to the Tower of Americas, an iconic structure erected for the 1968 World's Fair. Each jersey includes the Self Financial (Self) logo as part of a multi-year partnership.
The corresponding City Edition court is a visual delight that complements the thematic color palette of the uniforms. Sporting a vibrant pop of succulent green around the perimeter and the key bordered with color blocks of saffron orange and rich chocolate brown, the court stands as a testament to the Hemisfair. At its center, the Hemisfair logo takes pride of place, symbolizing the heart of the city the Spurs call home. The phrase "Viva Spurs" is a timeless mantra, intricately embedded into the court design, as well as featured above the jock tag on each jersey, a nod to the team's enduring legacy.
Becky Kimbro, Senior Vice President of Brand Engagement, shared her insight, expressing how the uniform design is a homage to HemisFair's influence, underscoring the significant role it played in placing San Antonio on the world stage and fostering its multicultural identity. The late 1960s, in her words, epitomized the growth and vibrancy that resonates within both the community and the team.
Andres Andujar, CEO of Hemisfair, highlighted the importance of incorporating Hemisfair into the City Edition jersey and court, stating that it serves as a symbol of heritage and shared history, showcasing the deep ties between the beloved team and the vibrant city.
The first unveiling of the City Edition uniforms will be during the November 10 game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, followed by the court debut on November 20 against the Los Angeles Clippers, marking the commencement of the 10 City Nights, presented by Michelob ULTRA, throughout the 2023-24 season.
