The Winnipeg Jets are turning to the original team’s identity for their latest Heritage Classic sweater. When they face the Montreal Canadiens outdoors at Princess Auto Stadium in Manitoba on October 25, the Jets will wear a white throwback inspired by the franchise’s looks from the 1980s and 1990s.
The design also recalls Winnipeg’s 2016 Heritage Classic sweater, which paired a white base with the team’s legacy crest. This edition revisits that combination with felt construction and stitched details that give the familiar look a new finish.
At the center of the sweater is the Jets’ legacy crest, rendered in felt with chain-stitched detailing. The treatment adds texture to the logo while reinforcing the vintage character of the uniform.
Fanatics, the NHL’s authentic on-ice outfitter, worked with the league and both teams on the Heritage Classic designs. For Winnipeg, the result puts the original Jets identity at the forefront, using the white throwback as the foundation for a sweater rooted in the city’s hockey past.
The back numbers feature a two-layer felt treatment, carrying the material choice from the crest through to another prominent part of the sweater.
That consistency helps bring the design together. The crest’s chain stitching and layered felt numbers give the uniform a tactile quality, adding depth to a look fans will recognize from earlier eras of Winnipeg hockey.
The Heritage Classic returns after a three-year break, bringing the NHL’s Canadian outdoor series to Manitoba for the Jets-Canadiens matchup.
It will be Winnipeg’s third outdoor game, with all three appearances coming in the Heritage Classic. The new sweater builds on that event history while revisiting the white-and-legacy-crest combination worn in 2016.
For a game played in front of their home province, the Jets are leaning into a familiar identity. The white base connects the sweater to the original Winnipeg team, while felt and chain stitching give this Heritage Classic edition its defining details.

Coastal Carolina is pressing rewind for its annual “Wait Til You See This” matchup, bringing a ’90s-inspired uniform combination to Brooks Stadium against App State. The limited-edition look taps into the bold colors, oversized graphics and expressive style that made the decade instantly recognizable.
The Chanticleers will debut the uniforms on Friday, October 16, with kickoff set for 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
The inspiration reaches beyond traditional football throwbacks. Coastal looked to the colorful aesthetic of television favorites such as Saved by the Bell, Boy Meets World, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Friends, drawing from an era when fashion and pop culture embraced plenty of personality.
That approach gives the uniform a different kind of throwback story. Rather than recreating a past Coastal football look, the combination captures the feel of the decade through bold color combinations and larger-than-life graphics.
For a program that has made its “Wait Til You See This” game an opportunity to introduce something unexpected, the ’90s theme provides plenty of room to get creative.
Coastal is extending the theme into the stands, encouraging fans to arrive in their best ’90s outfits. Colorful windbreakers, oversized graphic tees, baggy jeans, overalls, bucket hats and high-top sneakers are all part of the invitation.

The San Antonio Spurs are returning to their early identity with a Classic Edition uniform inspired by the franchise’s silver ABA-era road jersey. Celebrating 50 years since the ABA-NBA merger, the look brings back the original arched Spurs wordmark and diamond shorts detail that helped define the team’s first years in San Antonio.
The design draws its story from Hemisfair, where the Spurs began building a connection with their city and the foundation for generations of basketball to follow.
Silver anchors the Classic Edition, revisiting a color that has been part of the Spurs’ identity from the beginning. The ABA-era road look offers a direct connection to the franchise’s early years while remaining recognizable within the silver and black palette fans know today.
Across the jersey, the original arched Spurs wordmark returns in its original form. First worn by the players who represented the city at the start of its Spurs story, the lettering gives this anniversary uniform a clear link to that founding era.
One of the uniform’s defining details appears on the shorts, where a diamond insert once again frames the original Spur logo. Bringing back that combination adds another piece of the team’s early visual identity to the complete look.
The jersey also features an anthem tag positioned just above the jock tag, honoring the ABA and its role in the Spurs’ journey to the NBA. It is a smaller detail with a specific purpose, connecting the throwback design to the anniversary being celebrated.
Together, the silver base, arched lettering and diamond shorts insert make the Classic Edition a tribute built around the details of the original uniform.
The Spurs will wear the silver Classic Edition on each of their five scheduled Classic Nights.
The schedule includes matchups against all three of the other former ABA franchises that joined the NBA alongside San Antonio in 1976: the Pacers, Nets and Nuggets.
With its original wordmark and returning diamond detail, the Spurs’ Classic Edition brings their earliest San Antonio look back to the floor. Fifty years after the merger, silver remains a thread connecting the franchise’s beginnings at Hemisfair to the team taking the court today.

Royal blue anchors the uniform, drawing directly from the Pacers’ identity during their ABA run. By revisiting the 1971–74 design, Indiana is celebrating a period that remains central to the franchise’s history.
That inspiration carries championship significance. Under Bobby “Slick” Leonard, the Pacers won three ABA championships and three ABA division titles, building a legacy that preceded their move to the NBA in 1976.
The Classic Edition gives that history a visible place in the current season, allowing a new generation of players to wear a look connected to the franchise’s early success.

The look is part of a league-wide tribute involving all four franchises that joined the NBA through the 1976 ABA-NBA merger. Denver, the Indiana Pacers, Brooklyn Nets and San Antonio Spurs will each wear ABA-inspired Classic Edition uniforms this season.
Denver’s Classic Edition takes its inspiration from the Rockets’ orange road look, giving the anniversary uniform a bold foundation tied directly to the franchise’s past.
Across the chest, arched “DENVER” lettering outlined in white stays true to the team’s 1970s ABA uniform. The design also features the original Rockets logo, bringing back a piece of the franchise’s identity from before it became the Nuggets.
The choice to revisit the orange road uniform gives this throwback a distinct place in Denver’s uniform lineup. From the color to the lettering and vintage logo, the design puts the Rockets era at the center of the celebration.
Before Denver became known as the Nuggets, the franchise competed in the ABA as the Rockets. In 1974, ahead of a potential move into the NBA, the team changed its name to avoid a conflict with the Houston Rockets.
Denver went on to reach the ABA Finals in the league’s final season before joining the NBA in 1976. This Classic Edition connects today’s Nuggets to that earlier era, recognizing the identity and history that helped lay the foundation for the franchise.

— New Orleans Saints (@Saints) July 9, 2025
The New Orleans Saints are stepping into the 2025 season with a fresh look up top. The team revealed a brand-new white alternate helmet, joining the growing list of NFL squads expanding their lid lineup under the league’s relaxed alternate helmet rules.
The new shell stays true to the Saints’ identity while introducing a fresh, modern twist. It features a crisp white base adorned with subtle black flecks, giving the helmet a speckled texture that fans have already compared to vanilla ice cream, a playful nod to New Orleans’ King Cake culture. The iconic gold fleur-de-lis logo remains front and center on both sides, while a bold gold stripe runs down the middle of the helmet, embossed with repeated fleur-de-lis symbols for added depth and detail. That stripe is bordered by two thin black lines for contrast, and the look is finished off with gold facemasks that tie the whole aesthetic together.
Unlike the Saints’ black alternate helmet introduced in 2022, the white version drops the fade or taper effect and keeps things sharp and symmetrical.
The Saints confirmed that the white helmet will debut with their Color Rush uniforms — a fan-favorite combo of white jersey and white pants, accented with gold numbers and black-and-gold trim.
Previously, the black helmet was always paired with the Color Rush set. It made four appearances over the last three seasons but never in the Superdome. With the arrival of the white shell, that lid might now rotate into black-on-black combos, giving the Saints more flexibility and, hopefully, better results.

The Third Saturday in October is getting a throwback look.
Alabama and Tennessee announced that they will bring back a long-standing rivalry tradition, with both teams wearing their home jerseys when they face each other in 2026 and 2027.
That means Alabama will wear its iconic crimson jersey at Neyland Stadium on Oct. 17, 2026, while Tennessee will wear its orange jersey at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium in 2027. The two-year agreement was coordinated by both schools, their head coaches and the SEC.
The 2026 matchup will mark the first time since Oct. 17, 1970 that Alabama and Tennessee have both worn their home jerseys in Knoxville.
The 2027 meeting will make even more history. When Tennessee travels to Tuscaloosa, the Volunteers will wear their orange jerseys inside Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium for the first time ever.
The uniform decision is a natural callback to the history behind the rivalry's famous nickname. Alabama and Tennessee first played on the traditional third Saturday in October in 1928, and the matchup continued on that date for 66 consecutive years through 1994. SEC scheduling changes ended the annual third-Saturday tradition in 1995, although the rivalry has continued to carry the name.
The rivalry itself dates back even further, with the programs first meeting in 1901. The teams have played every season since 1928 except 1943, when Tennessee did not field a team during World War II. The 2026 matchup will be the 109th meeting between the two programs.
Alabama currently leads the series 61-39-8 under the NCAA's historical accounting.
The Third Saturday in October, that's about as fitting as it gets.
