Utah Football has doubled down on style and meaning this week. After announcing their “Dark Mode” uniforms, the Utes surprised fans with a stunning reveal of their newest hand-painted helmet, a modern update to the iconic “Drum and Feather” design that started the team’s hand-painted helmet tradition.

The new helmet will make its on-field debut Saturday night when Utah hosts Cincinnati at 8:15 p.m. on ESPN.

The original “Drum and Feather” helmet set the standard for Utah’s custom-painted designs, and this updated version carries that legacy forward. The helmet once again highlights the signature circle and feather logo, a mark that honors the Ute Tribe, which continues to grant the university permission to use its name and imagery.

Every detail of the design reflects Utah’s deep connection to its heritage, with a rich, hand-painted finish that makes the logo stand out even more under the lights. It’s a look that merges art, culture, and athletic pride, a reminder that the Utes’ identity is built on more than just wins and losses.

The “Drum and Feather” emblem carries profound cultural significance. The circle represents the Ute Tribe’s “circle of life,” while the eagle feathers symbolize honor and respect. Together, they form a visual bridge between the university and the Ute Tribe — a partnership grounded in recognition, respect, and shared history.

For Utah Football, the helmet is more than just another alternate it’s a statement. It celebrates tradition, acknowledges the tribe’s ongoing collaboration with the university, and reminds players and fans alike of the heritage woven into the program’s identity.

Washington is turning back the clock in a big way for the 2025 season. On the 93rd anniversary of the franchise's founding, the team officially unveiled a brand-new alternate uniform set inspired by their iconic Redskins “Super Bowl Era” — a nod to the glory days that brought Washington three championships in the 1980s and early 1990s.

The alternate uniforms includes a throwback-inspired helmet that will be worn three times during the season, starting with a primetime debut in Week 9 on Sunday Night Football against the Seattle Seahawks (Nov. 2). Fans will also see the set in action Week 13 vs. the Denver Broncos (Nov. 30) and on Christmas Day vs. the Dallas Cowboys (Week 17).

These alternates are rooted in history, pulling direct inspiration from the looks worn during Washington’s Super Bowl runs in 1982, 1987, and 1991. The white jersey is clean and classic, featuring burgundy numbers outlined in gold and gold stripes on the sleeves. Nameplates are burgundy with gold outlining — a subtle detail that stays true to the era.

Paired with burgundy pants that include gold and white striping, plus matching socks, the full uniform is a head-to-toe tribute to the franchise’s golden years as the washington redskins.

“We are excited to celebrate Washington's rich history with these iconic, Super Bowl Era uniforms this season,” said Commanders Team President Mark Clouse. “Ever since Josh Harris and our ownership group acquired the team back in 2023, they've placed great value in finding ways to connect the past and present and pay homage to those that made the Burgundy & Gold what it is today."

He continued, “These uniforms honor the most successful era of our franchise — one that reflects a culture of excellence and encompasses many historical moments and special memories amongst our fanbase. We look forward to bringing that nostalgic feeling back to fans, while incorporating a modern feel for our next generation of fans.”

The highlight of the ensemble is the custom helmet—a hand-painted, airbrushed masterpiece that replicates the old-school leather helmets worn by players a century ago. The design gives off an authentic leather appearance while offering today’s protection and safety standards.

The throwback jersey features a deep navy blue base with bold gold block numbers front and back. Three thin gold stripes line the sleeves, mimicking the striping pattern found on the Packers’ long-sleeved wool sweaters from 1922 to 1924. It’s a clean yet powerful design—classic, functional, and full of character. Paired with matching pants and socks, the look brings a unified old-school aesthetic to life.

Gold has long been a part of the Packers’ DNA, and this uniform reinforces that history. The vibrant yellow-gold elements pop against the navy base, celebrating the traditional color scheme that helped define the franchise’s identity in its formative years.

Adding to the historical flair, the uniform includes the NFL shield as a reminder of the Packers’ foundational role in the league. The team was officially admitted to the league during a 1921 meeting in Chicago, and this look honors that early chapter of Packers and league history alike.

For the third straight year, Ole Miss is adding some serious flair to its helmet lineup, and once again, they’ve teamed up with Realtree to do it. The Rebels revealed their newest alternate look: a white camouflage helmet, the latest in what’s quickly become one of the most anticipated traditions in college football.

The camo concept began back in 2023 when Ole Miss debuted a powder blue and white pattern against Texas A&M. That design wasn’t just a fan favorite — it was voted 2023 UNISWAG Helmet of the Year. A year later, the Rebels doubled down on the creativity, unveiling a navy and white version for their matchup with Oklahoma in Oxford. Both helmets turned heads, and both games ended in Ole Miss victories.

Now, the 2025 edition takes things in a cooler direction with the crisp, icy white camo pattern. The Rebels will break out the helmet for a marquee Week 10 showdown with No. 13 South Carolina on November 1, hoping to continue the winning tradition tied to their alternate lids.

Between the design innovation, the collaboration with Realtree, and the on-field success, Ole Miss has carved out a unique space in the uniform game. If history is any indication, the icy white camo might not just be one of the cleanest looks of the year.

The Nebraska Huskers are going dark this season for their Nov. 1 matchup against USC. The Huskers will don an all-black alternate uniform, marking the first trip to Lincoln for the Trojans since 2007.

The uniform stays true to the Huskers’ classic design while flipping the color script. The jersey mirrors the standard look with two white sleeve stripes and bold block numbers, but all the iconic red has been swapped for black. Even the famed red “N” on the helmet is now black. One subtle touch: the “Winning Tradition” patch has moved from the front of the jersey to the inside of the collar.

Nebraska fans are known for their Sea of Red, but for this game, the school is calling for a full blackout inside Memorial Stadium. Attendees are encouraged to wear black apparel, giving the Huskers a unified, intimidating presence as they face the Trojans. It’s a rare visual twist on one of college football’s most iconic home environments.

This isn’t the first time NU has gone dark. The last black alternate was worn in 2020 against Illinois. Previous black alternates include matchups against Indiana in 2019, Northwestern in 2015, and UCLA in 2013.

With this alternate, Nebraska not only nods to a history of bold uniform choices but also gives fans a fresh, intimidating look that’s perfect for the spotlight of November football.
