The throwbacks are back in The Swamp. A fan-favorite look within the Florida Gators community, the 1960s throwback uniforms are returning this season after a four-year hiatus. Florida last wore the classic combo in 2021 against Vanderbilt, a game that ended in a dominant 42-0 victory. Now, the look is set to return on October 18 for the Gators’ Homecoming matchup against Mississippi State.

This year’s throwback combination features the iconic orange helmet with the interlocking “UF” logo, paired with blue throwback jerseys and white throwback pants. Over the years, Florida has showcased different variations of throwbacks, but this particular combo has cemented itself as a fan favorite — blending nostalgia with on-field swagger.

The UCLA Bruins are stepping into Homecoming weekend in style. As they prepare to host the Maryland Terrapins, the Bruins are not only rolling out their iconic 1967 throwback uniforms but also debuting a special footwear collaboration with Jordan Brand, retro-inspired Air Jordan cleats that celebrate the program’s legacy and swagger.

For the third straight year, UCLA will take the field in their classic powder blue and gold throwbacks, a timeless combination that pays homage to the program’s storied past.

Jordan Brand, the Bruins’ exclusive equipment partner, has supplied the team with two new player-exclusive Air Jordan cleats: retro Air Jordan 1 Lows and Air Jordan 4 Lows. Each pair draws inspiration from the Jumpman legacy while incorporating UCLA’s distinct color palette and identity.

The Air Jordan 1 Low cleats feature a dark grey and black elephant print upper — a nod to the iconic material that defined the Air Jordan line. White laces, powder blue Swoosh logos, and the original Air Jordan Wings logo on the heel tie the look together, blending heritage with modern performance.

Meanwhile, the Air Jordan 4 Low cleats bring a sleek and modern edge. The all-black upper contrasts with powder blue accents and crisp white laces, while the powder blue Jumpman logo and “Nike Air” branding pop off the heel. The Wyoming Cowboys are going dark for one of college football’s oldest rivalries. Ahead of their October 25th matchup against Colorado State, the Cowboys revealed a brand-new all-black “coal-inspired” uniform, set to debut under the lights for the annual Border War. The game marks the 117th meeting between the two schools, potentially the last, as conference realignment reshapes the college football landscape.

The Border War dates all the way back to 1899, when the two teams first clashed on Thanksgiving Day. They’ve since battled for over a century, with the coveted Bronze Boot serving as the rivalry trophy.

The Cowboys’ new uniforms, dubbed the “Cowboys-and-Coal” look, pay tribute to Wyoming’s rich mining history. The all-black set features a matte black helmet with a single white stripe down the middle and a white outline of Wyoming’s iconic Cowboy logo on each side. The front bumper reads “WYOMING” in a bold western-style font, tying back to the state’s rugged identity.

The jersey itself carries subtle textural patterns inspired by the coal industry. “Wyoming” appears in a white cursive script across the chest above large white numbers in the same western-style font seen on the helmet. Both the jersey and pants are stripeless, creating a sleek blackout effect from head to toe. A white number on the shoulders and front adds just enough contrast to keep the look balanced.

But beyond the style, the message runs deep. Wyoming is partnering with the Wyoming Mining Association to honor the hardworking men and women who have powered the state for generations. Members of the mining industry will lead the team onto the field, and miners past and present will be recognized throughout the game.

Texas Tech football is honoring a century of tradition in 2025 with a special throwback uniform celebrating the program’s 100th anniversary. The look not only nods to the Red Raiders’ historic past but also highlights key milestones in uniform design that shaped the team’s identity over the decades.

The program’s first football team took the field in 1925, when the “Tech” wordmark first appeared on the team’s uniform. Just a year later, in 1926, the now-iconic Double T made its debut, establishing a logo that would become one of the most recognizable marks in college sports.

By 1930, Texas Tech was already pushing the boundaries of uniform design by incorporating the Double T into traction stripes, a cutting-edge look for its time.

In 1935, the program introduced jersey numbers to the front of the uniform for the first time, bringing both functionality and identity to the design. Fast forward to the mid-1960s, when stripes inspired by the Masked Rider and the horse’s breast collar were added to the uniforms in 1965, further cementing a connection to Tech’s most famous tradition. Just a few years later, in 1969, helmet stars were introduced as awards, giving players a chance to showcase their individual achievements while adding another memorable layer of style.

Each detail in the 2025 throwback uniform is a nod to these defining eras, from the early wordmarks to the stripes and symbols that became staples of Texas Tech’s identity. By weaving in elements from across decades, the Red Raiders’ centennial look is a visual timeline of 100 years of grit, innovation, and football in Lubbock.

As the Red Raiders take the field in their anniversary throwbacks, the uniforms will stand as more than just a jersey; they’re a tribute to the players, coaches, and fans who built Texas Tech football into what it is today.
